Beloved Underachievers, Taken From Us Too Soon

This page went dark Wednesday, March 26, 1997, to mark the announcement of the departure of my beloved Hartford Whalers -- would-be champions, perennial also-rans. After 25 years, the team that survived the WHA, Eddie Johnston and the Civic Center roof collapse are leaving New England for greener climes. Green, as in money.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out of town, fellas.

Click on the logo at the top of the page, listen to Brass Bonanza, and raise a toast
to the team that defined the phrase "what might have been."

Or listen to Kevin Dineen's parting words, and hear the horn again.
