Upgrade Schedule

The rollout plan for Mac OS X Leopard & Office 2008 is below:

  • All new FCAP Macs (laptops and desktops) now come with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and a full installation of standard Smith software and keyserved applications, which includes Office 2008.
  • All qualifying lectern, lab, and classroom Macs have been updated with Mac OS X Leopard. All lectern, lab, and classroom Macs will have Office 2008 installed.
  • Leopard is available to Staff and Faculty FCAP Macs with Intel processors. Staff and Faculty who wish to upgrade their FCAP should contact Kate Etzel, Director of User Support Services, by email or by calling x4580.
If you are interested in upgrading to Leopard, please note that the upgrade requires that your machine is completely re-imaged. You will have to do a complete backup before the upgrade and then restore your data to the computer after the upgrade. For more information, refer to the instructions for Upgrading to a New Mac.
  • Staff and Faculty who are interested in Office 2008 can download Office 2008 and install it on their Smith-owned Mac. For more information and installation instructions, see these pages on TARA: Upgrading to Office 2008 for Mac and Installing Office 2008 for Mac

This page will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
