University of Florida
The Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology (PMCB) Graduate Program at the University of Florida is actively recruiting highly qualified undergraduate and M.Sc. students interested in plant biology. PMCB is a highly competitive, nationally-recognized graduate program that prepares students for professional careers in academia and industry.

Brown University
Offers a PhD program in Computational Biology. Research is centered around genomics, gene regulatory networks, mathematical models of genetic variation, and other genetic-related fields. The program offers disciplines in applied mathematics, computer science, ecology and evolutionary biology, molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
Prerequisites include mathematics through intermediate calculus, linear algebra and discrete mathematics, programming skills, and at least one course in chemistry and molecular biology.

Carnegie Mellon University
Offers a Master’s in Computational Biology, with courses concentrating in computational genomics, molecular biology, and methods for biological modeling. Includes research and internship opportunities.
Prerequisites include an understanding of general biology and a familiarity with computer science.

Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh Joint Program
Offers a PhD program in Computational Biology, with a particular emphasis on projects relating to the human genome. After taking a series of required core courses, students may focus on one of four fields, which are bioimage informatics, computational genomics, computational structual biology, and cell and systems modeling.
Students of all scientific backgrounds are welcome to apply. An interdisciplinary or multi-disciplinary background in different sciences is highly encouraged.

Case Western Reserve University
Offers a Master’s or PhD program in Systems Biology and Bioinformatics. A student chooses from one of four concentrations, which are translational bioinformatics, clinical reserach informatics, computational molecular biology, and health informatics. Each of these tracks delves into using and interpreting mathematical models and biological data to further development in various medical fields.
Requires an Bachelor’s degree in biological, computer, or quantitative sciences. Recommended courses include two semesters of introductory biology, chemistry, and physics, introductory computer science, introductory statistics, biochemistry, calculus through differential equations, and linear algebra.

Cornell University
Offers a PhD in Computational Biology and Medicine in collaboration with two other institutes. Focuses on using experimental mathematical and computational models to foster advancements in the sciences.
Prerequisites include a basic understanding of computer science and biology, two courses in calculus, and at least two other mathematical courses, such as linear or abstract algebra or statistics.

Florida State University
A PhD program in biomathematics, allowing interdisciplinary study across different biological fields, and involves research and interaction with various experimental labs. Tailored more to students with a primary background in mathematics.
Prerequisites include courses in calculus through multivariable calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. It is recommended for applicants to have a basic knowledge of partial differential equations, statistics, computer programming, and genetics.

North Carolina State University
Offers Master’s and PhD programs in Biomathematics, with concentrations in different fields of biology and mathematics. Involves collaboration with different biological departments and various research centers across North Carolina. Covers ecology, neurobiology, physiology, infectious disease, toxicology, and more.
Prerequisites include a bachelor’s in biology or mathematics, with proficiency in both fields.

Ohio State University
Offers a Master’s program in Mathematical Biology. Focuses on creating mathematical models of biological situations and problems in the life sciences in preparation to enter biological and medical research careers.
Prerequisites include a Bachelor’s degree with courses taken in multivariable calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. A background in biology is recommended.

University of California – Los Angeles
Offers Master’s and PhD programs in Biomathematics, which are intended for research into biomedicine. Students can concentrate on a variety of different fields, including biophysics, neuroscience, genetics, cancer, and more.
Applicants should have a strong background in various mathematical and scientific areas, such as mathematics, statistics, physics, and biology. Courses in computer science, chemistry, or other physical sciences are recommended.

University of Massachusetts – Worcester
Offers PhD programs in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The program focuses on genomes and proteomic data. There are several topics of research, such as population genetics and molecular evolution, protein folding and modeling, modeling large-scale biological systems, and more.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a physical or biological science, and it is recommended that applicants have some background in mathematics, biology, (bio)chemistry, or physics.

University of Texas – MD Anderson Cancer Center
Offers PhD programs in Biomathematics and Biostatistics, focusing on cancer biology and disease processes. The program is designed to train researchers to create mathematical models based on biomedical research.
Prerequisites include at least three semesters of calculus, linear algebra, and advanced courses in mathematics, such as abstract algebra and numerical analysis. Courses in biochemistry are also recommended, but can be taken after admission.
