Online Literacy
The folks over at Neilson Library have done it again… linking to a really neat article about online literacy & technology in the classroom.
In [Online Literacy Is a Lesser Kind - ChronicleReview.com] the author, Mark Bauerlein writes that online reading is a very different kettle of fish from other types of reading such as reading a book. Undergrads now arrive at college having been reading online all their life and there is little we can do to change how they do that. So to try to have a liberal arts class try to incorporate online reading for the purposes of learning course content is problematical.
