Last week the Provost’s Office announced that they will be continuing the competitive pilot program first offered last year to support intensive summer language study by Smith students. The fund has been increased from last year so that the Provost’s Office can subsidize more students.
Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to apply for funding. Priority will be give to those students hoping to study non-European languages and students who intend to study abroad using the language at some point after their summer study. Preference will also be given to students on financial aid, according to their level of need. Students can receive up to $5,000 for intensive summer language study.
Applications are available through the Class Deans’ Office and are due no later than Friday, March 16, 2012.
