Tonight: Growing old in China presentation

Tonight Smith professors will share a presentation about growing old in China.

Tonight, Thursday, March 29, Professors Janice Moulton and George Robinson will share an illustrated presentation, Growing Old in China.

The elderly are now a significant demographic in China. Professor Moulton, from the philosophy department, and Professor Robinson, of the psychology department will share a presentation that includes photos and videos they shot describing the lifestyles, activities and conditions for old people in China. Topics include: aging, retirement, pensions, health care, lifespan, the role of filial piety, living arrangements, university study for seniors, post-retirement jobs and volunteer work, grand-parenting, exercise, hobbies & pastimes, travel.

The presentation is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Neilson Browsing Room.

  1. Would be very interesting to compare the data on aging populations in China & other Asian countries to data from western countries
