This weekend Smith announced the Jill Ker Conway Challenge—an attempt to raise $1 million for international student scholarships in Jill’s name.
As Smith’s first female president (serving from 1975 to 1985), Jill Ker Conway understood the value in providing an education of depth and breadth to prepare women for lives of leadership. The challenge was inspired by Joan Fletcher Lane ’49, who has pledged to donate $2 million if alumnae raise $1 million by January 31, 2013.
Alumnae are invited to celebrate the powerful impact of one of Smith’s—indeed, one of higher education’s—greatest leaders, and help make a Smith education possible for a new generation of smart and ambitious women.
