On Saturday, January 19, the Smith College Club of Great Britain will host its Annual Winter Dinner featuring guest speaker, Janet Clarke McKinley ’76.
Janet, an alumna and former Smith trustee, is investing what she learned on Wall Street—-along with what she earned—-to help lift the world’s poorest women out of poverty.
Formerly Chairman of The Income Fund of America, and a director of Capital Research and Management Company, Janet has become increasingly involved in efforts to help low income women and small-scale farmers in developing countries gain access to financial services in order to manage their risks and significantly improve their economic situations.
She has served as chair of Oxfam America and on the boards of Oxfam International, Smith College, the Deutsche Bank Microfinance Consortium Fund, MicroCredit Enterprise and The Synapse Market Access Fund.
The Winter Dinner will be held at The Sloane Club in London on January 19, 2013, with a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:15 p.m. For more information about the dinner and/or to sign up to attend, please visit winterdinner2013.eventbrite.com.
