Planning to study abroad in a non-English-speaking country? Want to enrich your experience with an intercultural internship of your own choosing? The Anita Volz Wien ’62 Global Scholars Fund is a merit-based award to encourage Smith students who are U.S. citizens to study abroad in non-English speaking countries.
The award offers $10,000 per academic year, plus a $3,500 internship stipend, and up to $1,500 for travel. Students must study abroad in combination with an internship or similar experience either before or after the study abroad period. All Smith students with U.S. citizenship are eligible to apply. Because the award is merit-based, students are encouraged to apply regardless of financial aid status.
All majors are invited to apply. Science and engineering students may apply even if they plan to spend only one academic semester abroad ($5,000 for one semester, plus internship stipend and travel as above). Applications are due March 15, 2013 to the Global Studies Center.
