Make your PowerPoint Presentations PC-Compatible

One of the things that Mac users love about their Macs is being able to drag-and-drop between the OS and applications. Unfortunately, this can backfire if you are making a presentation that will be viewed on a Windows computer.

PowerPoint presentations created on a Mac using drag-and-drop to add images will sometimes be incompatible with Windows PowerPoint (the images just won’t show up).

To make your PowerPoint presentation compatible with a PC

  • Insert the image instead of dragging it, by going into the Insert menu > Picture > From File…
  • If the image is from a website, right-click (or ctrl-click) on the image and choose Save Image As…, then insert the image using step above.

Another thing to remember: Depending on what application you’re using to create those image files, check the preferences and save options to see if you can turn QuickTime compression (or ALL compression) off.
