CLAMSHELL ALLIANCE AGAINST NUCLEAR POWER Clamshell Alliance Against Nuclear Power was founded in 1979 in order to “educate people about nuclear power and alternative energy sources through lectures, panel discussions, literature tables, films, and slide shows.” The group’s main goal was to stop the development and use of nuclear power and to encourage the use of safe, renewable energy sources for power. This group held no elections and was not funded by Smith College. There is no record of the club’s activities after its founding.
