Consumer's League

CONSUMER’S LEAGUE The Smith College Consumer’s League was founded in the early 1900’s and was described in 1914 as “an association of persons who in making their purchases strive to further the welfare of those who make or distribute the things bought” and in doing so hoped to “abolish the sweating system” and to “extend among all mercantile establishments the commendable conditions now existing in the best.” Records show that the club was still in existence in 1937, but no information is available on it after that date.
