CURRENT AFFAIRS COUNCIL The Current Affairs Council was founded in 1954. Its purpose was “to coordinate the activities and pool the resources of member groups with the end to stimulating general political and social awareness among the student body” and its member groups included the Liberal Association, the Young Republicans, the International Relations Organization, Interrace, and Christian Social Action. While the club was initially approved by Smith College authorities, it was disbanded by the Activities Board in April 1954, shortly after its founding.
