PRE-THEOLOGICAL SOCIETY Founded in 1979, the initial purpose of the Pre-Theological Society was “to unite students who have an interest in further theological education; to provide occasions for speakers and open discussions concerning theological education; to disseminate information on conferences and other gatherings at theological seminaries; to maintain a library of current theological school catalog in the Chapel; to keep an accurate list of students interested in both the academic study of religion at a graduate level and in professional study leading to various forms of ministry.” The club was not a religious interest group and was not partial to any religion or denomination, nor did it presuppose any belief system. Meetings and events were open to any interested students.
