TECC is an international non-profit organization comprising of university students from the United States and China. Recognizing the importance of technology, education, and service, we strive to use those means to directly benefit our communities. Our Mission Working as a collaborative cross-national network between the United States and China, we use technology to undertake sustainable, high-impact projects that foster educational development, promote social responsibility, and nurture mutual cultural understanding. Summer Programs: TECC Summer Institutes (TSI): We seek to train elementary/middle/high school teachers from rural districts throughout China to teach English innovatively and incorporate useful technologies into their curriculum. We offer an opportunity for students from the U.S., Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing work together closely in rural Chinese settings where the educational and technological need is greatest. Chinese language skills are not required. Youth Ambassador Program for Minorities (YAPM): In the YAPM program, University students from the U.S., Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing work together closely in the area that minorities live in China to help local children develop an identification of minority culture. We do not simply promote preserving minority culture, but cultivate interest and understanding of minority culture among local children, and encourage them to preserve their own minority culture. Chinese language skills are required TECC Chinese Cultural Exhibition: Traditional Chinese Cuisine Workshop Make delicious Chinese food yourself on a Saturday afternoon! Smith College TECC (Technology and Education Connecting Cultures) is hosting an activity day including introduction to Chinese food culture, sugar game and Wanton and Sweet Dumplings workshops. The volunteers got together, exchanging their experiences on different sites, sharing their amazing summer stories with new members, and, of course, having donuts and fun. On the Family Weekend this semester, TECC set up a table for fundraising.People who offered any amount of donation had a free bubble tea or a beautiful photo of Chinese daily life or natural beauty, which were taken and edited by our members themself. We are happy that we not only raised some funds for our future activities, but also spread our words out–to some extent enhanced awearness of TECC at Smith.
