The Smith College Bulgarian Club "Eibre Ubre" was founded in 2001. The idea and the proposal for the club came from several bulgarian student at Smith (who else...). The initial purpose of the club was to provide for the bulgarian students as well as other interested students with an opportunity to attend and participate in bulgarian events in the Boston area. After the club was lounched, we discovered that in fact, we can do much more than that and really be able to enrich the Smith Community with yet another culture that is a mystery for most students on campus. Since we started, we have organized and participated in multiple bulgaria-related events and we believe that we have put a beginning to the project of building awareness of bulgarian history and culture. So far, we have thrown one wild bulgarian-music party at Smith that had an enormous success in attracting bulgarians from all over the New England colleges and universities area. We also participate in every international student food event (by cooking too). Another common activity that we like to organize is having workshops about bulgarian history, cuisine and holiday customs. If you are still wantering about our activities, you can visualize them by visiting our gallery. |
