SCHEDULE
Spring Serenade March 28, 2009 8:00 PM, Sweeney Hall
Mahler's 3rd |
College chorus rehearses twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:10 to 5:50. Smith College Chorus sings a varied repertoire in three and four-part harmonies. Pieces focus on the western art tradition within the folk song and classical genres.
College chorus members’ pride in the group is contagious. Beyond showcasing the group’s musical potential, concerts are delightfully lively and heartfelt. Smith College Chorus loves to perform. In the fall semester alone, the group sings at music events called Autumn Serenade and Vespers. Occasionally, The Smith College Chorus is also invited to sing at chapel services. Spring events include hosting a festival of women's choral ensembles and combining with a men's group to collaborate on a major work with orchestra and soloists.
It is highly rewarding to be a part of the Smith College Chorus. The group is dedicated, and the singing atmosphere is friendly. The Smith College Chorus and Chamber Choir are open by audition to women of all class years. Auditions are short and painless, and previous choral experience is not required. Auditions are held at the beginning of the fall semester. If interested, please contact Ryan Brandau at rbrandau@smith.edu for more information.
