The purpose of Smith Democrats is the following:

1. To create and foster a spirit of political awareness in the Smith College community on local, state, and national levels
2. To promote an understanding of the political system with which we live in order to motivate for positive change, including an understanding of our rights within this system.
3. To encourage active involvement in legislative activities, particularlyl activities associated with or supporting the Democratic Party.
