Fall 2006: The Smith Democrats ACED MIDTERMS, campaigning for successful congressional candidates in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and Missouri to help Democrats gain control of both House and Senate. Everyone we supported won. We also did work for Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. Here are some photos from the campaign!

Getting ready to canvass for Joe Courtney in Connecticut's 2nd district. Every voter you talk with is important--Courtney won the seat by just 83 votes.

The Smith Democrats pose with Patrick Murphy, now in Congress representing Pennsylvania's 8th district. We got up at 3:30 am on a Saturday morning to drive from Northampton to Bucks County, PA for a weekend of canvassing.

But it was all worth the lack of sleep, because we helped Patrick Murphy win...and because awesome local volunteers cooked us a pasta dinner!

As Election Day approached, the Dems did chalkings on Smith campus to remind students to send in their absentee ballots.

On Election Night '06, which unfortunately, but perhaps fittingly, fell right in the middle of Smith's own midterms, we gathered to watch election returns in the campus center before reluctantly heading off to finish gov essays, math take-homes and the like. 2006 was a fantastic election season and we hope you'll help us make 2008 even better!
