x HISTORY
Once upon a time, some singing Smithies defected from existing a cappella groups to move to a land called Groove. They wanted to create a group that would allow them to sing Mozart with a full orchestra one weekend and de-stress by singing the Beatles on another.
And so Groove a cappella was born. As the only group affiliated with the Smith College Music department, we draw all of our members from either the Chorus or Glee club, and schedule all rehearsals and performances around Music Department rehearsal time and events. Our relationship with the Music Department also provides us with more performance opportunities.
Founded in the fall of 2001 as "The Groove," Groove is Smith College's youngest a cappella group.
