Mission: To enrich both the Smith College community and the greater Northampton area through the performing arts.

History:

Leading Ladies was founded in 2002 by Zoe Block '05 and Daryn Sirota '05. Their dream of starting Smith's first ever musical theater group was realized in that spring with "A Little Night of Broadway" which Zoe wrote and directed. Since that time, the organization has put on a minimum of one show a semester.

How the organization works:

Leading Ladies is based around an executive board which continually strives to make improvements to the organization. It is this board that chooses what shows are produced, as well as who directs them, based on proposals that are submitted at the end of each Fall semester.

Casting is then up to the discretion of the director along with input from the musical director. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester. You do not have to be in a show to actually be part of the organization.
