Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
We will be using the term “sexually transmitted infections” or STIs as a replacement for “sexually transmitted diseases” or STDs. They reference the same thing, though the term STD has been replaced by STI in the sexual health education field as it more accurately reflects the physical conditions, and lifts the social stigma associated with them.
Additionally, we are providing our STI information to you with the option of picture examples embedded in the text. While we believe that images can be a powerful learning tool, we understand that some people may feel uncomfortable viewing graphic images of genitals.
