Lending Library

The Resource Center for Sexuality & Gender has a variety of books, DVDs and magazine which are available for use to the entire community.  While we prefer that materials be used in the Center, members of the Smith community may check them out using the procedure outlined below.  Members of the Five-College community who wish to borrow materials from the library must contact Tamra Bates, the Campus Center Director at tbates@email.smith.edu to obtain permission.

All books and DVDs are listed in the binder but can also be found in an excel spreadsheet on the desktop of the computers in the Resource Center.  Please ask for assistance if you are looking for something specific as we are able to search by title, author as well as topic.

Check Out Procedures:

  • All materials leaving the Center must be recorded in the white binder found on the Lending Library shelf.
  • Please document all information required on the sheet – name, phone & email, 99#, title of the book or DVD you are borrowing, and the date you are checking it out.
  • All materials should be brought back to the Center as soon as you are finished with them.  Program assistants for the Center will check the library periodically and email folks who have yet to bring back materials.
  • Materials not returned by the last day of class in the fall and the spring semester will be charged to replace the materials.

Wish List:
In the back of the binder there is a section called “Wish List.”  If there are materials you wish we had, please add them.  As we look to add resources to the library we will use this list as a starting point.

Please remember that the Lending Library is here as a resource for everyone.  Materials taken from the Center and not returned will be replaced.  Please think twice before stealing from the Resource Center.
