Alexander Woronzoff-Dashkoff

Alexander Woronzoff-Dashkoff is Professor of Russian at Smith College where he teaches in the Department of Russian Language and Literature. Born in Renon, Italy, he received a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Southern California. For many years he also worked in the Russian Summer School at Middlebury College, the last nine years as Director of the School. At Smith College he regularly offers courses in 19th and 20th century Russian literature, as well as women’s autobiographies. His scholarship has been devoted primarily to the life and works of E. R. Dashkova. He published the French edition of E. R. Dashkova’s Mon histoire (Paris, 1999) and the biography Dashkova: A Life of Influence and Exile (Philadelphia, 2008). Curriculum Vitae (PDF).
 
Mikhail I. Mikeshin
Mikhail Mikeshin is Director of St. Petersburg Center for the History of Ideas. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, he received a Candidate in Philosophy degree from Moscow State Pedagogical University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from St. Petersburg State University. For many years he also worked as a researcher at St. Petersburg Branch of the Institute of the History of Science and Technology, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and as a professor of philosophy at St. Petersburg Mining Institute. His main interests are the history of ideas of the Enlightenment, especially in Russia and Scotland. He is the author of about 80 works, among them M.S. Vorontsov. A Metaphysical Portrait in the Landscape (St. Petersburg, 1997) and Social Philosophy of the Scottish Enlightenment ( St. Petersburg, 2005). Curriculum Vitae (PDF).
