Martha Vorontsova (1718-1745), née Surmina, was sole heir to a considerable fortune. She married Georgii Dolgoroukii, but when the Dolgoroukii family fell into disfavor and was exiled to Siberia, she petitioned Empress Anna and had her marriage annulled. In 1735 she married Roman Vorontsov and bore him seven childern: Maria (Buturlina), Elisabeth (Polianskaia), Alexander, Ekaterina (Dashkova), Semen, (Vladimir and Anna died in infancy).
