Mikhail Vorontsov (1714-1767) was vice-chancellor (1744-1758) and grand chancellor (1758-63). In 1741 he helped Elisabeth seize the throne and later married her first cousin Anna Skavronskaia (1722-1775). He was friend and patron of Russia's celebrated man of learning M.V. Lomonosov (1711-1765).
