linkydink I actually hadn't heard anything about that particular piece of legislation before. I was only out visiting for a week, but I did see a number of anti war rallys in and around Santa Fe, and heard of several more sizable ones In Albuquerque. A few people have asked me general questions about New Mexico's politics recently, and I realized that I wasn't really out there long enough to answer competently. I want to say it seems sort of... Libertarian? A weird mix of Repbulicans and Democrats with an emphasis on personal freedoms and civil liberties, just from what little I've seen of NM drug legislation and the above link. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I will ask some of my more pollitically aware friends in the area about it... Politics aside, I had a wonderful time, it was just as beautiful as I remembered it, and it was good to see my freinds again.

linkydink Alert! The circus after-party is not on Friday, but rather on Saturday. I'll be spinning with Kid Kameleon and fflood, who are both brilliant, and so it will be a dope evening indeed, my friends.

linkydink cmoore: I definitely planned on going, but I didn't know you'd be in town, so I planned on going to the opening night show on Friday which has an after-party. If you don't have any other free time, I guess I'll pass on that and join you on Saturday. kangaroo: How was Santa Fe? Curious, since I read a joint memorial affirming civil rights and liberties; declaring opposition to federal measures that infringe on civil liberties.

linkydink A spectacular indictment of contemporary politics... A Bruegel-fueled journey through temptation, decadence, fortitude and rebellion... a one-ring contemporary circus featuring acrobats, aerialists, stiltwalkers, clowns and DJ Jimmy Tones live on the turntables... equal parts grotesque and sublime...Hey, this sounds neat! I wonder if I'll see all of my cool friends there? (I bet they could hit me up for free tickets if they didn't want to buy them themselves...)

linkydink The school board of the recently merged Eaton and Franklin High Schools announced that 1,200 students would be laid off as part of their cost-cutting measures. School Superintendent Marisa Fargman said, "We've got a lot of duplication among the students now that the merger is complete. Fifteen homecoming queen candidates is way too many for a district of our size, and 85 nerds is more than our jocks and preps can adequately harass." 1,200 Students Laid Off in School Merger

linkydink "When the FCC slapped Portland, Oregon's KBOO with a $7,000 fine for indecency two years ago for playing the Sarah Jones song "Your Revolution," Program Director Chris Merrick and John Crigler, KBOO's legal council, decided to take a stand for free speech. They have now finally emerged triumphant, as the FCC overturned its decision and rescinded the fine, but the ensuing two-year court battle accrued legal expenses of almost $26,000."

linkydink "Acting on a tip in this town of high net worths and low crime, the police on Saturday arrested three members of the Greenwich High School basketball team and two other students who they said had disguises and a Halloween mask and what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun as they prepared to rob a convenience store."

linkydink "A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty today to manslaughter and sexual assault charges in the death of a 13-year-old girl he met on the Internet. The man, Saul Dos Reis, of Greenwich, entered a plea under the Alford doctrine in the May 2002 killing of Christina Long. Under the plea, he did not admit guilt, but conceded that the state had enough evidence to convict him if his case went to trial."
