The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities is the national information and referral center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families, educators, and other professionals. Our special focus is children and youth (birth to age 22).  Strong educational focus with emphasis on learning issues but includes some other issues (CP, etc.).  (En Espaņol).  Offers a valuable bibliography on a wide range of issues and interventions. 

Yahoo!'s Disability section offers many specific resource links and chat options.  Strong on organizations, independent living and assistive technology.

The Nebraska Network for Children and Families offers alphabetical lists of general disabilities web sites and Web sites with information about specific disabilities or chronic illnesses.  

The U.S. Dept. of Justice's ADA Homepage.  Also of interest is the Americans with Disabilities Document Center

The American Association of People with Disabilities is an advocacy organization.

Steven Sell's Disability Management Page offers resources for individuals and professionals dealing with disabilities and disability-related issues.  [This is disabilities.com]

Michelle Stuik organizes Suite101.com's Disabilities pages.  Information and chat options.  Has links to Disability Parenting and Disability Sexuality. [Commercial]

Blindness/Low Vision

Oedipal Enterprises cyber-seeing-i provides a lengthy list of Blindness-Related Resources on the Web and Beyond and a comprehensive list of Blindness emailing lists.

The New York Institute for Special Education' Blindness Resource Center offers many resources.

Deafness/Hard of Hearing

Web Site is a fine starting point.  Also offers Contact Information for Organizations related to Deafness.  International in scope.

Deaf World Web offers a variety of resources including many on deaf culture.

Rochester Institute of Technology offers Subject-based Internet Resources Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  Extensive

About.com's deafness and hard of hearing site offers information organized by topical categories. [Commercial]

The National Institute of Health's National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders offers health and research information.

Learning Disabilities

LD Online provides a wide-ranging interactive guide to learning disabilites for parents, teachers and children.  (En Espaņol)

The Learning Disabilities Association of America is a national, non-profit organization which seeks to advance the education and general welfare of children and adults of normal or potentially normal intelligence who manifest disabilities of a perceptual, conceptual, or coordinative nature.

The National Center for Learning Disabilities provides national leadership in support of children and adults with learning disabilities by providing information, resources, and referral services; developing and supporting innovative educational programs, seminars, and workshops; conducting a public awareness campaign; and advocating for more effective policies and legislation to help individuals with learning disabilities.

Other Technology Links

Center for Applied Special Technology, CAST, located in Peabody, MA, is an educational, not-for-profit organization that uses technology to expand opportunities for all people, including those with disabilities.

Bobby is CAST's a web-based tool that analyzes web pages for their accessibility to people with disabilities and offers a seal of approval to accessible sites..
