The Amazing Snova Parish!

Snova and I on the bridge

Snova and my father came to visit me in Massachusetts during my first year at Smith College (fall, 1999). It was such a fun trip! The weather was gorgeous and the autumn in New England was absolutely spectacular. We drove around and looked the beautiful trees (we don't have flambouyant deciduous trees naturally growing here in Alaska), they took in some parent weekend activities, ate the delicious food and got to watch a Noteables concert. I missed them a lot when they returned home, but my father was wonderful and captured some fantastic pictures of the trip. I love my parents! :)

Isn't
she lovely?

The Parish family owes Snova so much. She swooped in and saved the day in a major way by bringing the family together years and years ago. An amazing mom and an equally amazing friend, there is very little that Snova can't do. After all, she's done everything from gutting fish by street light in the middle of the night to homeschooling my brother Justin for a year to taking the Girl Scouts out for a retreat. Most importantly, and most impressively, she navigates a nine-person household and takes care of our affairs. What a brave woman! The true Alaskan, not afraid of a challenge. I hope I have many of Snova's characteristics someday.

spectacular autumn
display!

Snova and that beautiful fall palette...they go together so nicely!

Snova is a very talented quilter, although it is hard to find time to pursue such hobbies when there are seven children running around! She is very active in the Baha'i Communities of Juneau and Auke Bay, and somehow always seems to have time to help out if somebody is in need.

You can write to Snova, let her know how you're doing--and see what this busy woman is up to!

P.S. Snova also makes the most amazing North Douglas chocolate cake in the world! (I'm not kidding.)
