Homework 10

due: Wednesday, December 11 by midnight

Bergmann-Streinu-Thiebaut

Assume that you are the judge in a Turing test that is held in the year 2006. Think of 2 (two) questions that you would like to ask, questions that will help you decide whether you are communicating with a human being or a computer. Note: your question may be several sentences long. For example, you could state an arithmetic word problem and then ask some question to be solved.

For each of your questions, write a short paragraph that explains why you think that this would be a good question to ask. That is, how will the response to each of the questions help you to decide what (human or machine) you are communicating with?

We will be looking for questions and explanations that show that you understand the point of the Turing test, and that demonstrate reasonable ideas about what computers will and won't be able to do in 10 years.

Submit the above in a file called hw10xx, where xx are the last two numbers in your account name.
