Administrative
- TA lab hours announced weekly
- Lab hours (Seelye 411): Sun, M, Tu, W 7-10
Telnet
- If you open two telnet windows (two sessions)
- whoami (or: who am I) will tell what user is in each window.
- Do NOT use mouse for the telnet window (you "talk" to Unix, not with a Mac)
Pine
- create aliases (nicknames)
- reply, forward message
- spellcheck
- usage of distribution lists
- postpone/resume composition
- later: how to save a message in a file.
Files:
- On local Mac, stored on desktop, hard disk or floppy disk.
- On Seelye server (students can read but not write there)
- On sophia: entirely different system (Unix files) - later
File hierarchy:
- files in folders in folders ... on disk
- Create new folder (in Finder)
- Create new file using a word processor: next.
