Haunted Looking uses images from the 1979 photo anthology, Eye to Eye: Portraits of Lesbians from the Joan E. Biren papers in Smith College Special Collections. Although there is a longer history of lesbian photography, Eye to Eye is notable for being the first photography anthology to be titled and marketed with the “lesbian” label.
