PhD Program at Case Western Reserve Medical

PhD Program at Case Western Reserve Medical

Biomedical Sciences Training Program (BSTP) a multidisciplinary Ph.D. program at Case Western Reserve University. Deadline to apply: January 15

“The BSTP is a common entry portal to our Ph.D. programs and allows students the opportunity to perform their thesis research with one of over 200 faculty mentors. We offer students the freedom to choose from a very wide range of research areas in the biomedical sciences or to easily enter a focused research area. Our Ph.D. programs include Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics and Genome Sciences, Molecular Biology & Microbiology, and more.

We also have specialized tracks in Cancer Biology, Developmental Biology, Immunology, RNA Biology, and Structural Biology & Biophysics.

Many of our students have undergraduate degrees in the biological sciences, but students with degrees in chemistry, math, or physics are also welcome. Students with these backgrounds are well suited for research in macromolecular structure, bioinformatics, genomic and proteomic studies.

Students in the BSTP program spend the first semester doing research rotations with faculty members. They then choose a faculty advisor for their thesis work and join one of the participating Ph.D. programs. Students receive a stipend (currently $25,000 per year), health insurance, and complete tuition support throughout their graduate studies. Our graduates go on to successful careers in academic research, biotechnology, and education. CWRU PhD programs have earned nearly twenty NIH training grants, and the School of Medicine is highly ranked among US medical schools.
