International Advancement goes to Michigan?

Proving that Smithies everywhere are interested in Smith’s global mission, President Carol T. Christ and International Advancement Director Kim Albright ’72 recently visited Traverse City, Michigan to give alumnae an international update.

President Christ shares Smith's global focus with alumnae in Michigan this week.

On August 10, a group of 22 alumnae attended a luncheon in Michigan and heard President Christ speak about the college’s decision to emphasize its mission to educate global women leaders. The president shared the school’s goal to send Smith graduates into the world with the knowledge to move across borders with ease and sophistication.

The group also discussed Smith’s international strengths including its Junior Year Abroad program, which prompted several Smithies to fondly recall their own JYA experiences. Additionally, the group heard about Smith’s international students and the college’s many international alumnae, as well as the global leaders and experts in their fields who visit and teach at Smith.

One attendee pointed out that she “loved hearing about all of the exciting programs that are happening at Smith” and that she was glad that Smith was “making things happen in the big wide world”.

The International Advancement staff couldn’t agree more!  The staff is happy to share its global updates with the whole world, including all of our U.S.-based Smithies.  For information on any of Smith’s international programs, please e-mail International Advancement.
