The Global Studies Center at Smith College is hosting a lunchtime global salon on Thursday, September 22 with visiting scholar Soner Cagaptay. Dr. Cagaptay is a senior fellow and director of the Turkish Research Program at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
This Monday, Cagaptay kicked-off a week-long visit to Smith with a presentation titled Turkey’s European Union Membership: Will it Happen and Why it Matters. A historian by training, Cagaptay has taught at a number of universities and is the recipient of many honors and awards.
Tomorrow’s event, which will feature a discussion on The Turkish Example: A Discussion on Political Islam, Democracy and Foreign Policy, is being led by Dr. Cagaptay and begins at noon at the Global Studies Center in Wright Hall. The event is free and open to the public; lunch will be provided.
