Sabina Knight, associate professor of Chinese and comparative literature at Smith College, was recently selected among 20 fellows in the Public Intellectuals Program (PIP) of the National Committee on United States-China Relations.
The program is “designed to nurture a new generation of China specialists who have the interest and potential to play significant roles as public intellectuals.”
The multi-year enrichment opportunity will complement Knight’s work at Smith. The fellowship will include professional workshops and conferences as well as two study tours to China, and fellows will also organize local public education programs. By strengthening connections between the fellows, academics, and policymakers, PIP hopes to “upgrade the quality of the American public’s understanding of China”.
