Professor Elliot Fratkin was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to spend a year teaching at Hawassa University in Ethiopia. Fratkin, whose anthropology research focuses on “life and social change among nomadic pastoralists“, previously taught as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar at the University of Asmara, Eritrea in 2003.
Smith College has a strong history of success with the Fulbright Program. In addition to Fratkin’s Fulbright Scholarship, 19 recent Smith grads were Fulbright Fellowships this year.
