Students interested in becoming Fulbright Fellows are invited to attend the Fulbright New Season Launch on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m. in the Weinstein Auditorium. This year’s Fulbright candidates will be speaking and taking questions from attendees.
U.S. citizens with at least a 3.4 GPA are eligible to apply for a Fulbright Fellowship. The fellowship allows participants to spend a year in one of 155 countries following graduation.
Since Smith’s Fellowships Program began in 2001, the college has produced 134 Fulbright Fellows, including a record 19 students currently abroad on Fulbright Fellowships. Smith leads the nation as the overall top Fulbright-producing college in the country, and also in its Fulbright success rate (ratio of winners to applicants). This past year, the college achieved a 47.5% success rate from 40 applicants, which is more than 2.5 times the national average of 17%. At Smith, almost 1 in 2—or every other applicant—was named a Fulbright Fellow this year.
