Alumna’s design firm named 2012 Designer of the Year

Sierra Bainbridge '99 has been working with MASS Design Group since 2009.

MASS Design Group was recently named 2012 Contract Designer of the Year by Contract Magazine.  Sierra Bainbridge ’99 works with MASS as a program director in Rwanda.  The organization builds structures that improve health and strengthen communities around the world.

Sierra graduated from Smith with a degree in Art: Architecture & Urbanism. and earned MLA and M.Arch degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.  She now “heads a professional school of architecture in Rwanda, now in its third year, the first school of its kind in the African country, which is training 25 students annually and will graduate its first class in two years.”
