This Friday, the Global Studies Center will host a Global Salon From Exception to Equality—Empowering Women & Girls, with Gillian Sorensen ’63, senior advisor at the United Nations Foundation.
Gillian, who graduated from Smith with a degree in French and studied abroad at the Sorbonne, is a Senior Advisor at the United Nations Foundation. She has also served as the UN’s Assistant Secretary-General for External Relations and Special Adviser for Public Policy, and served as New York City Commissioner for the United Nations and Consular Corps, head of the City’s liaison with the world’s largest diplomatic community.
The Global Salon will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 30 in the Global Studies Center, and tea will be served. Smith’s Global Salons provide an opportunity for the Smith community to gather to discuss global issues and meet with special guests from around the world.
