The Amherst China Initiative program is a summer program established by a group of Asia-based Amherst College alumni in 2009. On Tuesday, February 12, Amherst College alum and program director Jason Kung will lead an information session about the program.
The Amherst China Initiative is a cultural immersion program that emphasizes teaching and learning. The core focus of this program is to offer American and Chinese students the opportunity to challenge each other academically, to broaden their perspectives, and to build a cross-cultural community. The program is designed specifically for Five-College students to experience China through teaching English, learning Chinese, and traveling. No previous language or teaching experience is required.
The informational session will be held at the Smith College Campus Center, room 205 at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. It is being sponsored by the Program in East Asian Studies.
