Hopping Tree Sangha

hopping tree sangha

The Hopping Tree Sangha practices in the tradition of the Vietnamese monk, Venerable Master Thich Nhat Hanh. This entails Master Hanh’s revolutionary blend of Zen teachings, Mahayana traditions, Theravada buddhist methods, and Western influences. Hopping Tree has been practicing together for many years at their current location in downtown Amherst, MA. The organization’s name, the “Hopping Tree Sangha”, is a humorous reference to a yoga posture of the same name.

They offer a weekly practice session from 7:00 am to 8:15 am on Wednesday mornings—this practice includes sitting meditation, walking meditation, readings, recitation of the precepts, and dharma sharing. Their operations are funded by the donations of those in attendance (the suggested donation is $5 per week), and are open to the public. All are welcome!

Hopping Tree practices at the Yoga Center on Kellogg Avenue above Rao’s Coffee in Amherst. Their contact person is Jim Doubleday, who can be reached at 413-658-7994.
