North Amherst Meditation Group

The North Amherst Meditation group is located at the Pioneer Valley Co-housing Community off of Pulpit Hill road. The group came into existence over 17 years ago, when a few members of the community sought to organize their own meditation group. Since then, the group has developed into a regularly meeting Buddhist meditation community.

The group meets every Sunday in the community room from 10am until 12pm. The group begins by sitting in meditation for 45 minutes, followed by a brief reading from a book of choice. In the past, readings have included authors such as Joseph Goldstein, Pema Chodron, and Jack Kornfield. After a brief reading, the group ends by sitting for another several minutes. In addition to the weekly gathering, the North Amherst Meditation group hosts an annual weekend-long retreat lead by local Buddhist teachers from the Insight Pioneer Valley Meditation Society in Easthampton, MA.

While not identifying as exclusively Buddhist, this group draws from Buddhist Insight meditation practices and identifies its origins as being connected to the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. This group is open and free to the public. For more information contact Nancy Bair at (413)-230-6257
