Get to know Pioneer Valley Shambhala Center

Pioneer Valley Shambhala center is a part of ‘Shambhala International’ which has 200 centers all around the world. Pioneer Valley Shambhala center first started in the late 70s in Western Massachusetts and moved to present location in Northampton, 6 years ago. It is a Buddhist meditation center established to make teachings and practices of Chӧgyam Trungpa Rinpoche available to general public and to help them discover their inner goodness.

Shambhala lineage was started by Chӧgyam Trungpa Rinpoche, who was trained in traditional Tibetan Buddhism, specifically in Kagyü lineage. He incorporated knowledge and wisdom from Tibetan Buddhism and his experience in the West, to cater Buddhism to Western people.

Shambhala center in Northampton is non-profit and non-residential place which offers variety of programs from Tuesday to Friday and on Sundays. They offer weeknight classes, weekend retreats, informal discussion meeting with younger people, public meditation session and many more fun outreach programs. All the public meditation and meditation instructions are free but donations are welcomed. People who are interested and want to know more about the center can always drop in on Sundays at Public Meditation session from 10.00-11.30 am to experience the warm and friendly communal feeling.
