INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STUDENTS IN ECONOMICS & COMMERCE(AIESEC): AIESEC was formed in 1948, when, after World War II, students in management and economics recognized the need for increased communication and the sharing of ideas and skills between different countries. By 1970, the organization was established at 350 universities in over 50 countries all over the world. AIESEC remained a student-run organization and had provided work experiences and internships for over 75,000 students, varying in duration from two to eighteen months. Smith College participated actively in the program during the 1960’s and 1970’s.
