The purpose of the SmithCollege Community Garden is to serve as a tool for students to acquirepractical knowledge in organic vegetable gardening. We believe that it isimperative for students to gain concrete knowledge in ways to solve everyday problemsof environmental sustainability, especially those problems concerned with foodproduction. Thus, the garden will teach, engage, and put into practice thesenotions of sustainability in ways that are both applicable to the individualand the greater Smith community.
