Celebrations Dance Co. is a student-run dance company at Smith College. It has been in operation for over 20 years and is dedicated to student choreography, performance, and production. Originally founded to preserve and perpetuate marginalized dance forms such as West African and Jazz, Celebrations today embraces and honors diversity through dance forms which reflect the backgrounds and interests of its current membership.

Celebrations members rehearse two or more times per week and produce two annual performances. Celebrations also performs for local school groups, special Smith College events, and conducts dance workshops for the Smith College community.

Recently, Celebrations has commissioned and performed new choreography by an impressive roster of guest choreographers, including Mount Holyoke faculty members Jim Coleman and Terese Freedman and University of Massachusetts faculty Sam Kenney. Smith College Dance MFA candidates, including former Celebrations artistic director Maura Donahue, have also created work for Celebrations.

Celebrations is sponsored by the Smith College Dance Department and the Student Government Association.
