Join an Adobe Connect Meeting

If you’ve received an invitation to a virtual meeting using Adobe Connect, but you don’t know what that means or what you need to do, this guide is for you. The following instructions can also help if you’re having trouble connecting to a meeting.

Before Connecting to the Meeting

1

If you’ll be using an external microphone (such as a headset with an attached microphone), connect it to your computer before joining the Adobe Connect meeting. This will help ensure that the software can find your microphone.

2

Run the Adobe Connect Diagnostic Tool. The tool will test your computer’s setup and help you resolve any issues. It may take a few minutes to complete.

During the Meeting

There are a variety of permissions that might be extended to you during a meeting. You’ll know what permissions are available by checking the grey bar at the top of the screen.

1

If you see just 2 buttons (a speaker and a person with a raised hand), you have permission only to listen to the meeting. You may also be able to communicate via chat.

Click the raise hand button to ask for permission to speak.

2

If you see three buttons (a speaker, a microphone, and a person with a raised hand), you have permission to turn on your microphone and speak during the meeting. If the microphone button is white, your microphone is not connected.

To activate your microphone, click the microphone button. The button will turn green. If, after activating your microphone, other meeting attendees cannot hear you, check that Adobe Connect has selected the correct microphone. Click the arrow to the right of the microphone button. Under Select Microphone, select your microphone if it isn’t already chosen. You can also adjust your microphone volume from this menu.

If others still cannot hear you, you may need to check your microphone volume at the system level. For instructions troubleshooting your microphone, see the following pages for MacWindows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.

3

If you see four buttons (a speaker, a microphone, a webcam, and a person with a raised hand), you have permission to speak and share your webcam during the meeting. See the above instructions for enable your microphone. If the webcam button is white, your webcam is not connected.

To enable your webcam, click the webcam button. The button will turn green and you will see a preview of your webcam in the meeting. To finish enabling your webcam, in the webcam preview area, click Start Sharing.

Troubleshooting

  • The quickest solution to any issue is to quit Adobe Connect and your browser, then reopen them.
  • If your microphone isn’t working, make sure it’s plugged in fully before starting Adobe Connect. If the problem persists, at the top left of the meeting window, click Meeting and choose Audio Setup Wizard. The wizard will guide you through troubleshooting steps.
  • If your webcam isn’t working, make sure it’s plugged in fully before starting Adobe Connect and check that there are no other applications using the camera.
  • If things still aren’t working as expected, restart your computer.

To find more help resources, at the upper right of the meeting window, click Help.
