Each program is unique. Some adhere to strict GPA cutoffs. The citizenship eligibility varies enormously: some programs accept applications only from US citizens while others accept the citizens of the world. Some programs will express age limits or require application within several years of college graduation. As is so often the case, it is crucial to read the fine print, and consult the eligibility criteria for each fellowship before planning your application.
Ways to start checking:
- This document indicates when you may plan an application: first year, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate.
- The fellowship database permits you to filter information by citizenship requirement. (See notes on Excel filtering.)
- Each fellowship information sheet (all listed in our Table of Contents) lists the main eligibility rules.
- Notes on fellowship research list other search engines in which a range of eligibility criteria can be explored.
