Experiential Learning & EDU Games

Research Objective Three: EDU Games

  • Games that Educate: Conduct reviews of games designed to teach through experiential gameplay or content interaction.
      • Explore the social piece of gameplay and how it can be used in learning that involves interaction around a common experience. Examine single player games on Steam, multiplayer games online, Single player VR, Multiplayer VR, Multiplayer MR.
      • Consider the emotional connection and social awareness impact of role-playing vs. avatar creation.
        • Is one more effective than the other in connecting the player/learner with content? Is one more ‘immersive’ than the other?
      • How can we effectively bridge the gap between experiential critical thinking in gameplay mechanics and educational environments and content?
  • Games geared toward social awareness that prompt empathy
  • Games that explore experiential learning opportunities
  • Games for pure entertainment (What can we learn from them?)
